Born 1932, Dartford, Kent. Sir Peter Blake studied at Gravesend Technical College and School of Art. After National Service in the RAF, he continued his career at the Royal College of Art, gaining a scholarship to study popular art and travel abroad.  Throughout the 1960s, Sir Peter established himself at the forefront of popular art.  His position in the art world has also been officially recognised; he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the Royal College of Art, elected a Royal Academician in 1981 and knighted in 2002.  Sir Peter’s work has been featured in several publications, album covers and documentaries as well as in many solo shows throughout the UK.
