Most artists feel that their work speaks for itself and that no lengthy explanations of their intentions are necessary.  Rather the artwork should be used as a starting point for the observer to explore themselves and their own response to the world.  In this way the work serves not to answer questions but to ask them.  A painting has the power to go beyond the subject matter itself and connect us to heart of what it means to be alive.

In working from the figure I am fascinated by the uniqueness of the individual and the collectiveness of the human condition.  These pieces explore the drama and poetry of the human form.
