John Bold (1895 – 1979)
Born in Manchester in 1895, John Bold attended Manchester School of Art and was taught by the Frenchman, Pierre Adolphe Valette, as was L.S. Lowry who became Valette’s most famous pupil. Emmanuel Levy shared the same art teacher as L.S. Lowry and John Bold and the three artists became friendly as they all developed their drawing and painting skills under the guidance of Adophe Valette. Following his time as a student at the Manchester School of Art, John Bold went on to teach there.
